Day 6 of the challenge

Sunday, we're almost one week in of the plant strong diet.

Shawn and I usually cook quite a bit, but this weekend we have been eating out a lot.  I think  I have made pretty wise choices from a dietary stand, but I can tell my sodium intake is up, which is par for the course when eating out.  I usually weigh myself every AM, and I can pretty much tell what foods my body likes and doesn't like.  I will fluctuate by 3-4 lbs based on sodium intake, inflammatory foods etc.

So we went out to breakfast again on Sunday.  We went to Blue Sky Cafe, and Shawn actually like my breakfast better and said I could start ordering for him!!  SUCCESS!!!

I had a scramble.  I had them substitute the eggs for tofu, NO cheese/dairy.  It had black beans, green chile, avocado and sals and it was very good.

Lunch:  We had a late breakfast, so we didn't eat lunch.  Not something I like to do often.

Dinner:  Tacos.  Shawn made beef and I made sauteed kale and onions.  Stuffed the tacos with the kale, cabbage, beans, jalapenos, and homemade guacamole, it was awesome.....BUT I learned something this weekend.  WHAT IN THE HELL IS TBHQ?

http://www.naturalnews.com/031318_TBHQ_food_preservatives.html

I was reading the ingredients on the taco shells, and to my surprise and utter disgust, I read the following:
Limed Corn, Vegetable Oil Blend (Palm Oil, Contains One Or More Of The Following: Corn Oil, Partially Hydrogenated [Corn Or Soybean Oil]), Salt, Tbhq (Preservative)

My husband has a little obsession with WalMart.  He thinks they have the 'best prices on certain items'.  Personally, the place gives me anxiety.

He bought these taco shells at Wal Mart and I now know why they are so cheap....they are COMPLETE GARBAGE.

So, adjustments will be made.  Garden of Eatin' has a blue corn tortilla that is natural. There is still oil in the shells but at least we won't be consuming tert-Butylhydroquinon
